I was cruising some ebay posts tonight and one of them had in the description "by definition an error coin cannot grade MS70, so MS69 is as good as it gets for this coin" (it was in reference to a rotated die). Is this true or can an error coin get an MS70 grade?

I would think not. A 70 is theoretically perfect, precisely as the Mint intended the coin to look. So, rotated dies or die cracks should immediately disqualify it from ever seeing a 70.

The grading doesn't take into account die wear/rotations for coin grading. So coin strike of MS-70 can happen. Some grading companies it happens to too often. Buy the coin and not the plastic. I only pay raw prices for a graded coin.
