Noticed there are no Canadian coins listed so I'm adding a 1939 silver dollar.

Sorry, for some reason the obverse keeps dropping off.

Quote: an especially distasteful issue, Germany's 50 Pfennig. What is it you find so distateful with this coin? The swastika is a very old symbol and has been used on ancient Indian coins (to name just one example). Seems it is just the association, but any German coin from 1933 until the end of WWII can be associated with Hitler. Where are the 1939 coins from Poland, the country which was the first victim (if one ignores Austria)? And where are the 1939 coins from the Russians, who defeated the Germans? If I can dig some up from my collection, I'll post them.

Canada $1. This example has a bit of toning on its periphery. The one year design depicting the Parliament Building in Ottawa on the reverse was to commemorate the Royal Visit that took place in May and June of 1939. Mintage was quite large by Canadian standards.

A diminutive issue, just 16.4 mm in diameter.

That is not a scratch on the reverse... that is a white cat hair!!

Interesting coins, I had seen this thread and thought I had one to post, but it turns out that the only coins I have here with me to take pictures of that are close are a 1938 and a 1940...

I'll happily contribute - even though the anniversary has passed Here is a 1939 10 Rappen from Switzerland - minted in Bern as indicated by the "B" mint-mark - composition: Ni
