Noticed there are no Canadian coins listed so I'm adding a 1939 silver dollar.

an especially distasteful issue, Germany's 50 Pfennig.

What is it you find so distateful with this coin? The swastika is a very old symbol and has been used on ancient Indian coins (to name just one example). Seems it is just the association, but any German coin from 1933 until the end of WWII can be associated with Hitler.

Where are the 1939 coins from Poland, the country which was the first victim (if one ignores Austria)? And where are the 1939 coins from the Russians, who defeated the Germans?

If I can dig some up from my collection, I'll post them.

Canada $1. This example has a bit of toning on its periphery.

The one year design depicting the Parliament Building in Ottawa on the reverse was to commemorate the Royal Visit that took place in May and June of 1939. Mintage was quite large by Canadian standards.

Well, if you're gonna bump this (it's your thread, and your right), I'm going to act on the dearth of US issues.

Interesting coins, I had seen this thread and thought I had one to post, but it turns out that the only coins I have here with me to take pictures of that are close are a 1938 and a 1940...
