Poll Question
By "current circulating coin" I mean coin denomination and type seen in every day circulation (US half dollars are included, but not Canadian since they're not minted for general circulation but for collectors). A "non-circulating coin" are virtually-never-seen-in-circulation coins, out-of-production coins, (example clad Ikes and nickel voyageurs) silver "white" coins or NCLT.

Poll Choices
Yes, I accidentally spent a current circulating coin
Yes, I had to spend a current circulating coin
Yes, I dropped a current circulating coin
Yes, I gave a current circulating coin away to someone
Yes, I forgot where I put a current circulating coin
Yes, other reason for a current circulating coin (please comment)

A pocket piece is a coin that someone carries is his/her pocket, for whatever reason.

A pocket piece is a coin you carry around with you for various reasons. Maybe you like it, you want to show it off, or other.

Edit: wheatchaser types faster than I do.

I don't have a pocket piece for two reasons:

1) I don't like the idea of intentionally wearing down an interested/valuable coin,
2) Even if I bought something of small value w/ an interesting history, I'd probably end up losing it.

I never lost mine, but I eventually stopped carrying it because I had it fall out on several occasions.

I had taken a break from carrying my 1976D type 1 clad Ike when it got mixed up with a bunch of my other clad Ikes, and accidentally spent at the coin shop of all places. I miss it. Been carrying a 1978 D Ike now since the beginning of July. I've also been carrying lately a 1969 half (for silver) but thinking about swapping it for a Franklin, and putting it in a flip in my wallet so I'd just have the Ike in my pocket.

I haven't lost the '72 Ike I set aside for a pocket piece because I keep forgetting to put it in my pocket.

I havent lost any of my pocket pieces that I've carried around for a few years now but I have dropped them a couple times.

Currently I carry around an 1880-s Morgan-Good, a 1922 Peace-AG, and A 1971-D Ike-AG.

I dont care about the wear on the coins. If someone is worried about a pocket piece being worn they can always put it in and airtite.

I picked up a 1908 Filipinas One Peso a few years back that I was carrying as a pocket piece. It disappeared one day & I had no idea what happened to it. Found it about a year later. Guess it slipped out of my pocket when I sat down. Haven't carried a pocket piece since.

Years ago I had a proof 1977-S clad Washington quarter that I carried in order to see how it wore down. While reading one day, and rubbing the coin in my hand (to give it a little help), I accidentally dropped it down the inside of an over-stuffed chair where I was not able to reach it.

Not wanting to rip the chair apart for a quarter, I left it in its new home.

Not a great loss, but I was making good progress in putting some wear on it.
