Found this one roll searching this evening. I cannot figure out what hit it, or when it was struck. There is no cracking in the plating, which makes me fill this was done pre mint strike. Like the planchet was already damaged before the minting process. Then it appears that the devices are also damaged so, I just cannot figure it out. Any ideas?

Appears to be damage. It pushed out the obverse. If it were a struck through, the obverse would not be affected.

That is a very good point, but why is there no cracking in the plating. This is a rather large "damaged" area. I just do not see how the plating could be stretched that far without breaking.

Possible parking lot cent? May have been ran over? Give it time, it will probably start to zinc rot later on in its life.

Definitely not an occluded gas bubble. Those occur (rarely) in copper planchets. Yours is showing damage on the opposite side.

It took a huge hit. If it was a strike-through there wouldn't be a positive impression on the other side.

The hit is spread over a large area and there are no sharp or sudden bends in the metal. Copper is very malleable and would have no problem conforming to that distortion. You will notice that the plating rarely shows breaks or cracks from the impact and distortions caused by the striking of the coin. And when you do see spliting of he plating from the coin striking you will notice that it is at the sharp junctions of the field and the lettering.
