I have recently sorted about 7500 wheat cents that I have purchased and found roll hunting over the past few years and began examining them. This 1949 looks pretty cool. It appears to have a crack and a major lamination error. The coin was pretty nasty, so I soaked in verdicare for a while them gently rubbed it with a toothpick while watching through my scope. Check out the piece that came off as I rubbed it!

I thought the area above the peel was a crack but it might just be part of the peel.

Laminations tend to run in a straight direction across the coin. This one is a good example. When the copper gets thin, it may raise. But it is not a die crack as the die was not at fault, the planchet was.
