In a word FAKE.

The better term is Numismatic Forgery. The coin was made to fool collectors into believing it was genuine.

The streaky toning is very typical of recent Chinese made forgeries. Above the figure for the 2 in the date (two parallel lines) is a rim chip like a tiny Cud - behind the portrait at the neck are two die lines - if you enlarge the pictures there are numerous tiny bumps on the coin in the fields and on the portrait that do not belong - the detail is weak and the letters are not sharply defined at the edges - on the parts of the rim I can see the reeds appear to be split at the top.

There is zero chance that the coin is genuine - sorry.

Hello again - vermontensium - is correct in most cases but not all. There are always some honest eBayers who get stuck themselves and sell a forgery without knowing.

However in this case all three coins shown thus far are easy to spot numismatic forgeries of the type recently made in China from various base metals. The coins are injection molded (pressure casts) and the coin is edged with a tapered ring die that causes split top reeds.

I would cross this seller off my list of people worth dealing with.

But please study these coins they were all made the same way and have the same errors. Then go to the Heritage website and find originals for the same date and type and COMPARE the coins. After a very brief time you should be able to spot the fakes very easily.
