All - got this one form one of my cashier contacts. I have bought a lot of morgans and even found a few in the wild. This one has a slight goldish tone to it like someone painted it or dipped it in the past. It is also in nearly perfect shape - little or no wear on the breastbone of the eagle and liberty is about perfect. I get a funny feeling that its fake. Lustre seems to be off - but that may be because it was dipped in something or cleaned That being said . . . I weighed it and it came in at 26.77 grams on a good digital scale at work - so within a 3 or 4 hundredths of a gram. It was NOT magnetic. I was wondering if anyone could look at it and let me know their opinion. Thanks!!   |

Not fake IMO. But the coin is either PL or polished. Can't help you on VAM though. |

 appears to be authentic and polished judging by the halos around the obverse stars. |

i bought it from a cashier at a gas station that I have on the "lookout" for me. When she gets silver or rare coins at work, she calls me. I had told her I was leery of it being fake, so told her I would make sure it was real or else would give it back to her for a full refund.

The 1885 O is common. The weight is accurate, so it is not a fake. It is pretty much just good for silver, especially after being polished. But if it was not cleaned, and slabbed MS65 or better, it would be valuable.
