I've seen 5FS, 6FS, and even 5.5FS on slabs. Sometimes the price guides aren't very descriptive and only designate FS. Is there a "normal" when talking about a garden variety Full Step nickel? Thanks. Ed

I think it depends on what year it was minted.

Edweathar, great question! "Lets see", said the bumble bee to CCF members. ( I know just stupid but , trying to inject some new terminology here.)

I am also glad ...the link was posted ....does save a lot of typing ....

If your going to be serious about Jefferson nickels I would suggest getting some
Books ... One is the Whitman RedBook on buffalo/Jefferson nickels.
It gives a good break down on which dates are easier to find ... And which are harder,
as far as full step coins.

Yeah, thanks for the link. I also did a little research as to how PCGS and NGC look at it. PCGS will give a 5 Full Step nickel the "FS" designation. NGC will give either a 5FS or a 6FS designation, but their price guide only mentions the 6FS designation. I'm not sure about ANACS, but I have seen an ANACS slad with 5.5FS on it. Clear as mud now
