If there is
no mint mark, then it was minted in Philadelphia.
My personal preference in grading companies is ANACS. They have very consistent grading standards and I haven't seen one yet that was overgraded.
PCGS, NGC, and ICG are the other 3 respected companies.
This particular
VAM is considered to be a Rarity 4, which means that the number available is in the 10,000s.
If I were a collector of VAMs, I would buy it at that price if I could at least see a pic of it and there was a return policy.
Please keep in mind that, even though it has been graded by a respected grading company, this does not mean that the grade is necessarily correct. Grading is very subjective. One of the best things you could do for yourself is get a Photograde guide and an
ANA grading guide and learn to grade coins for yourself. That way, you will always know what you're buying regardless of the slab it's in. I would also recommend getting the Comprehensive Encyclopedia of Morgan and
Peace dollars (known as the
VAM book). There is a lot of information in this book and you can learn about these coins inside and out.
