I found this yesterday. I'm mainly a coin collector but am slowly getting into paper money. Is this worth keeping or would it be worth trying to sell on ebay? -Allen

Thanks John! I tried to look it up on ebay before but I didn't know what to call it. Doesn't look like they sell for much so I will just keep it.

If you get more 1 and 0 serial numbers you can go to a binary translation website and see if it converts to an thing cool. I think the sequence you have is the number 190. I tried to make it a word and got a wingding character back. Neat dollar though. I look at every bill I get in change and have yet to find a cool serial pattern that is worth saving.

I suppose more technically, this is an example of a "true binary".
It is a binary because its serial number only has two different numbers, while it is a true binary because it uses the numbers 0 and 1, which as scopru notes are the digits used in the binary number system. True binaries tend to be more popular, and yours appears to be in pretty good condition. Thus, it might bring a higher price than a normal binary note, but might still not be enough to warrant an auction.

It is decimal 190 and for a dollar, it's worth saving.

Thanks for the great info guys! Scott...if it makes you feel any better I looked through $1000 worth to find this. I also found a couple of "older" bills in good condition that I kept. I quickly flipped through the serial #'s and this one stood out at me.

I never thought binary as in just 2 different numbers...it immediately made me think of binary code...apparently my tech background is showing. Being new to all this I have been amazed at the market for serial number bills. Another thing I would have not thought about 6 months ago.

A true binary is 1 and 0's.

And a small bookend, with 10 on either end.
