Hey, I was wondering if there are any introductory offers from Littleton that are actually good. I got a junk mail dropbox that I want to fill up. Any ASEs under spot? Morgans/peace? If so, can you give me coupon codes? Note their coins are all cleaned, but who doesn't want silver under spot?

Littleton has huge overhead so their selling prices are consistently on the high side. They used to run ads in the Sunday newspaper coupon pages for "lead-on" items like silver eagles and Statehood Quarters. They would sell silver eagles slightly above spot but would limit your purchases to like 5 coins. I think they haven't done that in a while! All they were doing is trying to increase their customer base for their approval service. Littleton pays higher buy prices but they are very, very picky on what they buy. They use the term "nice for the grade" which means "very good+" really means "fine" (or in essence it better be one grade higher than what you think it is!). If you sell to them you can expect to get a package back in the mail with the the coins in it that don't meet their "standards". They reject a lot of stuff. I don't think they intentionally sell "cleaned" coins. I used to cringe when a seller would come in to the shop with a box full of Littleton cello packages of common Lincoln Wheats, Jeffersons and Statehood Quarters. Most of it was just cut out of the cellophane and spent. They serve a niche market for people that may not be close to a LCS or are unable to get out to shows. There is a place for them in the coin dealer food chain. But, in my opinion, if you are looking for good prices (except for their promo stuff) you better look elsewhere. Good luck!

I never bought from them, but they did pay really well when wholesalers were paying x.xx amount per coin, Littleton was paying xx.xx per coin! I guess if they have a big demand on something they will pay to get it. Never had an issue with their payment checks either. Most of what I remember Littleton doing was low grade sets, like Steel cents, War Nickels, late date Buffalo nickels, odd type coins, etc. nothing very high end, I don't remember selling them much over fine of very fine grades. Disclaimer - this was 20 years ago, have no idea how they are today.

A few years back I completed a "free" catalog request form from Littleton. They sent me a brochure with 3 or 4 foreign coins, instructing that if I liked the coins to remit payment for them & if I did not to send them back. There was no postage-paid return envelope included...so I did neither. I didn't order them, I didn't like them, nor did I feel any responsibility to be indebted for their return shipping. I don't feel bad about it.

I doubt you will find any bargains in their offerings.

I would never buy from their normal listings but you can get some pretty good specials from them if you keep your eye out. They won't let you continue getting specials but you can usually get a few of them. Here's a page that tracks their coupons. Not my page nor do I endorse it but I pop in once in a while to see what's posted on it: http://www.retailmenot.com/view/lit...om?c=5648933

I've bought from them a while ago before I realized their stuff is overpriced. They are still not as bad as the coin show on HSN though. Be prepared to pay top dollar there.

They tend to do a special on silver eagles at spot or even a little less around the time the RedBook comes out each year.
