Quote: You could have an animal thread with just pennies/pence etc. Pretty sure there are a few series which would allow to fill most of the alphabet, 'pennies' from different countries would be one of those - you are welcome to start a topic like that. But staying at 'P' denominations (giving you an elephant ): Paisa AM1224 (1795) Kingdom of Mysore [Indian Princely State]

A Peseta from Spain, note this coin has a clear date of 1966, but the real date is 1970 (70 in the star at 10 O'clock)

Sorry 'january1may', there are plenty denominations starting with 'Q', many resulting from 'four' or 'a fourth' which have become a separate denomination, eg the Roman 'Quadrans' (which I haven't scanned yet), but here one without that relationship (hopefully not one anyone else wanted posting). Btw, feel free to post another 'Qindarka' if it is not the same type: Qirsh AH1293//10 Egypt (Province of the Ottoman Empire)

Quote: Exact same type, sorry. and I had exactly the same type of Quartos (as alternative) as posted by 'davidrj' except mione is 1811 (btw, it was minted while Jose Napolen was in power there). Thanks to 'Amwyll Rwden', never saw a Qirsh on which the denomination was spelled out in Latin script. But let me also post another: 3 Quattrini 1843 Grand-Duchy of Tuscany

'R' is actually not such an easy letter, but there are for example variations on Rupee, Rupie, etc - here an odd one: 5 Rupees 1977 Keeling-Cocos-Islands
