Hey, I saw a promo video of Littleton storing coins RAW in felt boxes evidence here:

I have an instinct you should NEVER store coins in felt boxes like that because the hairs could slightly scratch the coins. Am I right in this regard? Littleton seems to not know anything about coins if this is true...

And are these PROOF coins being handled like that? Think of all the abrasion that the coins have to endure in the hand throwing them into each box.

Nope just uncirculated state or National Park quarters from mint bags. David does know his stuff, he just sold his finest known New England Shilling collection at auction. Littleton does get some bad rap for the low grade coins they market and sell, but in my opinion they do get new collectors interested in our hobby, they pay very fair prices to dealers for new material, and they handle some quite large high end collections, they usually don't sell those high end coins through their website, but more to want list holders, and collectors or other dealers that have a history with them.

David is also the Treasurer of the Numismatic Bibliomania Society (NBS), and a very nice guy, that goes out of his way to educate fellow collectors.

Personally I don't purchase from Littleton, but in the past have sold them quite a bit of lower end duplicates I've had from my dealing days, they always paid promptly and slightly more than most other dealers.

Not exactly sure what he is doing is helping educate anyone. IF he was he would not do things that confuse or don't give all the complete information.

I heard they pay good prices though for coins. I was just wondering... Why don't they just buy all their scrap silver from provident metals?
