Need some help to identify this 1878 S short nock VAM.
Seems to have a long line from bottom hair to neck, other line on hair/forehead, broken 4th right star and almost unrecognizable S.
Really hard for me to find wich VAM is..

The appearance of the wing feathers where they meet the legs - just above the area in your mint mark detail pic - is relevant to attributing 1878-S. Could you shoot that and post it?

I thought it was a VAM 8 but doesn't curved die scratch in front of forehead and die chip on lower right serif of E in UNITED ....
