ICCS would call this one MS-62 Red-Brown. But PCGS would grade this one as "Genuine Questionable Color". The extensive purple colour in the open fields and buffered out from the red lustre around all the devices speaks to me that this coin was wiped with acetone on a Q-tip, especially so on the reverse... (photo-chemical reaction).

I have a lot of copper cents that have a lacquer coat on them (that's what the ICCS label says).
It was recommended for me to remove this lacquer before sending them to PCGS for grading. So this could adversely affect the colour and damage these cents.
Any new recommendation before anyone sends lacquered cents down to PCGS..?
Is it still the practice that PCGS will refuse a lacquered cent..?
