Anyone here a top rated sell that plans on offering the 2014 Holiday extended returns until January 31, 2015?

If you participate then anything sold between November 1st, 2014 and December 31st, 2014 can be returned up to January 31, 2015.

From what I can tell you don't loose your top rated sell rating if you don't participate however you do loose the 20% discount off of final value fees if you don't. Depending on how much you sell that can add up to quite a bit. It looks like they're excluding bullion from this but rare coins are part of it.

Thoughts?

Anyone going to participate?

An up to 92 day return period to keep a 20% discount does not work for me. So, my last auctions for this year will end by 10/31. I will start listing again 12/25.

I understand ebay's motivation for doing this but ebay is not directly in the coin and currency business and has zero skin in the game.

They think, and promote, that an extended Holiday return period will drive Holiday sales. It may, but it won't be from me!

It looks like ebay may have caved to pressure, not sure. This is very good news for those that are Top Rated sellers. I received this email this morning.

Quote:
I'm writing to let you know that ebay will not require extended holiday returns for your listings to earn Top Rated Plus benefits in November and Decemberâ€"including the 20% final value fee discountâ€"as previously announced.

Instead, you'll get a bonus 5% discount off final value feesâ€"along with your current 20% discountâ€"from November 1 through December 31 for all your eligible Top Rated Plus listings that offer extended holiday returns.

This will give you more flexibility and help ensure ebay has the best inventory for buyers this busy holiday season. And, as a valued Top Rated Seller offering the current Top Rated Plus services, you'll continue to be rewarded for your ongoing commitment to providing great service.

Note we'll also be highlighting extended holiday returns on item pages and in search results starting in November.

This will be a great way to attract buyers and boost your holiday salesâ€"so if you haven't already, add extended holiday returns to as many of your listings as you can now!

Happy holiday selling!

They caved since so many sellers were not going to list for those months and they had many TRS close stores, some even packed and moved on. A lot of TRS sellers and power sellers that usually do not post on the boards came out of the woodwork to post that was the final straw and packed up for other venues.

They ( ebay) did an about face due to all that left or refused to opt in to extended Holiday returns. Now they are offering a carrot of an additional 5% off FVF's for TRS.

I am not biting.

ebay knows how many realistic listings it takes to generate "X" dollars in sales/profit. The new CEO does not want to alienate Wall Street.... especially when he comes out of the gate.

When the bells and whistles went off in San Jose they immediately did the about-face on the "Holiday Returns" fiasco. They are hoping for Sellers to return and start listing "good stuff"again. Only time will tell if it works and listing levels spike.

I would not want to be on the "team" that created the "Holiday Returns" program or the VP that approved it.

It really doesn't matter!! Since Nov.18 Paypal starts offering it's entended claim window of 6 months. A buyer has 6 months to file not received or not as described cases!! This makes eBays extended holiday returns - a joke in comparison. Lose a claim and Paypal will not even refund their fees they charged the seller. Talk about insult to injury!!

I'm only listing coins under $75 until; I have a sense of what the implications are. The UK has has this policy since June /2014. I haven't taken time to read the UK ebay seller forums. It's definitely something to consider.
