Hi, I'm not a hardcore collector, but enjoy keeping odd coins. I recently came across a 1926 quarter in excellant condition. My question is that where the mint letter should be, there is an M. And I have no idea what this means. Any insight in this would be greatly appreciated.
Welome Kratz! Hermon A. MacNeil designed the coin and the "M" is the first letter of his last name located on the obverse to the right of the date. Those from Denver or San Francisco had the "D" or "S" designation to the left of the date. Standing Liberty quarters have very beautiful designs. 11,316,000 of the 1926 Philidelpia coin were minted. In VF condition it is worth about $18.00. Hope this helps, Mike
