I found this bill while looking through some singles. I have no idea what kind of value it has. I can not seem to find anything like it online. Any idea as to the value or how common of an error this is.

Error-$1.-What-Is-It-Worth?

Welcome to the forums!

As to the $1 note, unfortunately it's not a true error. It might have happened when the bill was folded in half through the wash or something, allowing the ink from one side to bleed onto the other side. Or, it could have been done "unnaturally" with chemicals or something.

Either way, it's not a real error and has no additional value.

If it was a genuine 3rd printing "error" you'd think you'd see a reverse image of the seals and serial numbers, too. All I see are reverse images of the district numbers along with a partial reverse image of one serial number.

Unless I'm missing something I think this is not a genuine BEP error.

Maybe an error expert will chime in.

to the CCF. Currency errors aren't my strong suit-- there should be someone here who can shed some light on this bill.

I think I figured it out I zoomed in on the picture and on the bottom left serial number the C054 part is missing some ink compared to the rest of the serial number. Therefore what I believe is that when the bill was printed the ink was still wet and was folded on itself leaving those marks.
Rest in Peace

I'd keep it.

The district number was also transferred making the 3's look almost like 8's.

Even though it's not a genuine error, it's still interesting.

I was trying to figure out how it happened....and my best guess is that a sheet that was pulled for inspection got folded and the stray marks are not necessarily from the note that you have but from another note on the same sheet.

So in the process of moving the sheet from one place to the other and then back, the sheet 'flopped' over and there you have it.

Maybe.

I think I would have to agree with Buddy and I would keep it as a curiosity.

John1, As I scan ebay for certain errors I want, I find numerous sellers listing fake errors everyday.

I get tired of sending the sellers messages that what they have are not genuine errors, and 99% are listing (home made cut from uncut sheets) notes and listing them as mis-cut errors...

What troubles me is that I can not contact the bidder that doesn't know any better, and the seller sending a reply that what I say is my OPINION ONLY.

It is clearly not a BEP error. Someone likely messed with it or it occurred otherwise after being in circulation. I would not put it on ebay, as it would probably generate negative publicity for you and be a headache. Just spend it.
