The question is did anyone buy with the notice up and what did their receipt say? I have an invoice number with no mention of being on a waiting list.

Andrew289,

I still don't see that notice on the product page. The only change I've seen is the "ship" date on the proof has slipped from 9/24 to 10/30. Where exactly is this announcement. Post a link if you could please. Thanks.

what is says is you get a reciept:

"Waiting List Notice: The number of orders we have taken meets the maximum limit for the Thomas Jefferson's Liberty First Spouse One-Half Ounce Gold Proof Coin. You may still place an order for this product, which will go on a waiting list. If a product becomes available due to an order cancellation, we will fulfill orders from the waiting list on a first-in, first-out basis. We cannot provide information about your position on the waiting list.

When your order is placed on the waiting list, you will receive an order receipt. This is not a guarantee that you will receive your order. If we are not able to fulfill part of all of your order, you will receive a cancellation or sold-out notification. If you paid by check, you will receive a refund."

It took me about 30 minutes and half a dozen tries before my order went through. I just checked my e-mail for the confirmation and found that I got confirmations for two proof coins.

I actually ordered from the link before that so I wouldn't have noticed that notice. I did get my order done in under an hour so I should be good.

Lightning, you can't order 2 proofs so you will only get one. that should free up one proof anyway.

I only ordered one, I received two separate confirmations with two different order numbers. Both show ship dates of 9/24/07. I don't understand it, I'll check my credit card tomorrow to see if both were charged.

Is there any way to tell your status from the online receipt? I can't check the email until I get home. My online receipt makes no mention of "Wait List". Under "availability" it states "Backordered" with a product ship date of 2007-10-09. Are they in the can?

You can check the order status by clicking on "My Account" and then "order history", mine shows the same two confirmations and ship date. It does say that the orders are on hold, the item status says that the items are on back order and expected to ship on 9/24/07.

I started trying the website and the phone number at 12Noon. It was impossible to get through by phone, but at 12:13 I got through on the Website and have a receipt. Same story about the long delays.....talk about a "denial of service" attack. Imagine how many simultaneous log in attempts there were! I could almost hear the Mint's servers groaning down here in Florida.....

I just called the mint and got through by phone and got right through. I inquired about the coins and they did confirm that they are gone and are just taking down names for a waiting list.

When I asked about my order, they said they can't guarantee anything and wouldn't know until an email arrives saying my order shipped. Mine was backordered on 9/24 and it was in under an hour so I feel confident mine will get filled but wow...even with a limit of one of each per household, it sold out in just a few hours.

Lightning, I'm guessing when it is all said and done, they will deny the other order for the proof and give it to someone on the waiting list but that is just my guess. This happened to me when I ordered some tickets to an event that had a limit. I placed two orders but thought you could only order so many tickets per order and not per household. The order went through on ticketmaster but a few days later, I received a message saying they were going to reverse one of the orders since there was a per household limit.
Rest in Peace

My wife and I started in at noon EST. She used the phone and I used the computer. At 12:38 p.m. EST she got through on the phone and placed our order. So, if nothing negative happens to our order, we will recive two coins.

It took an hour but I finally placed my order at 1:30pm. I received my confirmation E-mail and everything seems OK so far.

They are still taking orders.

From information on the CoinTalk forum, the wait list notice went active right around 2:17 Eastern time, it is NOT in red this time, and is buried in the fine print so it is hard to find or see.
