While pondering the subject of the next "Days Of" currency thread, I drew inspiration from a post by WheatBack from the original 20 Days of $1 Notes thread:

Quote:
I guess you could make a variation with different bills from different denominations.. Sort of a mixed bag type thing. You could also start later in a series and go into more of the modern stuff or even make a 10 day variation. Just throwin ideas around!

The original thread can be found here:

https://goccf.com/t/184476

In an attempt to make this concept more universally appealing and accommodating to any and all collectors of US currency, I give you ...

The Comprehensive, Unabridged, No-Holds-Barred
20 Days of ALL US TYPE NOTES!

This thread is intended to showcase, by major category, a collector's best specimen of all of the many-splendored and multitudinous examples of paper money that was engraved, printed, and circulated on US soil over the past three centuries. Truly, this thread should include something for everyone, whether you are a "one of each" collector like myself, or interested only in the minute variations within a specific genre.

At its best, I hope this will serve as a good reference for someone interested currency in that he or she can all-at-once see such a broad array of all the notes that different collectors find interesting, and perhaps even be inspired to begin a collection of their own.

Here is my proposal for the order of categories, subject to change and open to suggestions from fellow CCF members:

Day One: Colonial Currency
Day Two: Early Obsolete Currency (Wildcat Banks)
Day Three: Confederate Currency
Day Four: United States Notes (Large-Sized)
Day Five: United States Notes (Small-Sized)
Day Six: National Bank Notes (Large-Sized)
Day Seven: National Bank Notes (Small-Sized)
Day Eight: Silver Certificates (Large-Sized)
Day Nine: Silver Certificates (Small-Sized)
Day Ten: Gold Certificates (Large-Sized)
Day Eleven: Gold Certificates (Small-Sized)
Day Twelve: Federal Reserve Notes (Large-Sized)
Day Thirteen: Federal Reserve Notes (Small-Sized)
Day Fourteen: Fractional Currency
Day Fifteen: Large Denomination Notes (Over $100)
Day Sixteen: Emergency Issues (Hawaii & N. Africa)
Day Seventeen: Military Payment Certificates
Day Eighteen: Fancy Serial Numbers
Day Nineteen: Error Notes
Day Twenty: EVERYTHING ELSE! (Demand Notes, Treasury Notes, Interest-bearing, Odd-types, etc.)

Each day is your chance to post your VERY FAVORITE note that fits into the corresponding category ... or ALL of your notes that fit! The more examples posted, the more comprehensive the thread becomes.

CCF Members, what say ye? Please post any suggestions, critiques, criticisms, or any other comments so we can collectively make this a great thread!

After we get a few posters on board, I've planned to start things up probably mid-week this coming week.

Anybody Excited?!?

Agreed! If you know other CCF members who have some nice notes to share, send them this way. Unfortunatly, I'm not yet able to message members to extend personal invitations due to the fact that I'm still a relative newbie to the forum

Looking forward to Wednesday!

No rules, just right, barryg! Playing catch-up is not only allowed, it's highly encouraged.

Nice to see you're interested too, hajduk! I know "tomorrow" comes a little earlier for you in Germany than it does for us in the West, so posting "early" is officially OK here too.

And welcome back to Dave L too. Can't wait to see what you guys have to show when not constrained to a specific denomination.

Tomorrow's the day! Get your "dollars" and/or "shillings" ready out there ...

I have all thirteen colonies, but I think I will only post a nice sample of styles instead of all 13. I won't normally post so many notes.

This first note is from Virginia, dated 1775. The main value is Three Pounds, but it also states that it is worth Twelve Crowns, and again that it is worth Sixty Shillings. This note is signed by Philip Johnson and William Norvell.

This second note is from South Carolina dated 1778.

This is a note from New York, 1776. 5 Shillings & 4 pence.

Then this last Colonial from New Hampshire. A basic note, but this unassuming little guy is hard to get.

Finally, a Continental note. 40 Dollars, dated 1778
