So today I went to my local wells fargo and picked up 200$ of nickels and in the last roll I was going through I had found some Buffalo nickels but nothing much rare. But I looked through this roll and I saw a Buffalo nickel and I studied it and I looked for the date but it wanst there! if anyone knows about this error please reply

It's not an error. It's an unintended design feature. The date was the highest point of the coin, subjecting it to wear as the nickel saw circulation. It eventually wore off. Those in better condition have partial dates or full dates.

I'd consider it a good find.

some times if you put the nickel in vinegar it will make the date visible

Yes, you can try soaking it in vinegar or Nic-a-Date to make the date appear.

If it is a type I buffalo, you do not need to reveal the date to know it is a 1913.

Do you live anywhere near Michigan? I've dumped dozens of dateless buffalos over the last couple years -

I would avoid the Nic-a-date. That stuff leaves an awful stain and may still not reveal the date. I'd go with the white vinegar. We've found and soaked many dateless buffalos and gotten all but four to show that dates.

if you try the vinegar soak - be sure to use "white" vinegar....and it could take up to a couple of weeks...

Its 99.99% not an error, just a worn date. Pictures would help!

Well how did you "clean" it?

As far as pictures, you can upload to photobucket and include a link, or upload the photo if it is a certain size.

Sorry, but you didn't research very well. It's not an error and it's far from rare. Please post a link to the site that says these are rare errors, I'd love to see it.

For $12 a roll, you can get all the dateless buffalos you want... 371128182316

I've seen them sold by the pound at shows.
