Hi all, does anyone know what year this coin would have been issued, and any idea of what the likely value could be today as a collector's item? Thanks :)

The top of both sides is to the right. To make it easier to help people to identify, please make as clear a picture as possible and turn the coins the right way round. Posting them as separate images allows to use slightly larger ones than combining the two images before posting. And please state also dimensions, weight (if possible) and material (not sure if copper or silver).

The only thing I can easily recognise is that the date considers of 4 numbers, the first being a one and the second likely a 7 possibly followed by a 4 or 6 and another 7.
Which means the coin is dated in either the Saka Era or the Vikrama Samvat Era because Nepalese Samvat Era was not used lately, no coin using that has a 4 digit date.

Thanks for your reply. The coin is 22-23mm in diameter and approx. 1mm thick. It appears to be made of copper. I've uploaded new photos in this post that will hopefully help a bit more. Thanks for the info so far.

Now it's clearly visible that the coin is double struck which makes determining the exact date a little difficult, since it affects the 2nd and 3rd digit of the date.
It is a Paisa from Surendra Vikrama who ruled from 1847 to 1881.
This particular Paisa was minted from SE1787 to SE1802, now the date reads SE17x7 with the third number difficult to determine but it has to be either 8 or 9, personally I tend towards the 9 based on the picture alone. That would make it SE1797 which is equal to AD1875.

If you want to try yourself to determine the numbers -> http://www.capanera.it/Inizio%20num...Nepal/n1.jpg
(If you read the third digit as 8, that would make the date SE1787 = AD1865.)
