I search nickels more often than any other denomination. I recently grew tired of asking banks for wrappers b/c they typically only give me 10-20 at a time. I decided to "bite the bullet" and simply order bulk nickel wrappers from a popular shopping website (I don't know if it is okay to mention the name of the site, but it is named after a very large river). Anyhoo, I placed an order for a box of 1,000 paper wrappers that cost ~$6 and advertised "Free shipping". I went through the process to place my order and discovered the seller was trying to charge me $60 shipping and handling! Whoa, hold on, I immediately canceled the order. I lodged a complaint on the shopping website, so hopefully the seller will be banned or at leas corrected.

Other buyers beware!

I had the same problem with the bank giving me a "hand full" of cent wrappers when in fact there was like 20 of them. I order them from e-Bay for about $5 a box w/free ship.

I had thought that most of you guys were taking loose coins to those banks that have the free deposit machines.

When I was coin roll hunting I had the same problem; not having enough blank rolls to repack the searched coins. I first started by buying wrappers at stores but that got to be expensive. After that I only acquired paper wrapped coin rolls (not the clear 'plastic' ones) and opened them carefully enough to reuse them. Naturally, soon after I found all the coins I was searching for I was given 2 cases full of coin wrappers free from work.

CRH is really not easy. It's difficult getting both the 'fresh' coins and dumping back the searched ones.

Most tellers have no idea about the scope of the CRH activity - giving most folks 20 wrappers might actually result in some given back. I bought cent/nickel wrappers from a few places: 1000 counts for fractions of a penny each. If you are an Amazon prime customer, the shipping is already handled in the upfront fee. If not...watch the second or third line from the bottom for the sneak attack. overall, you should be able to buy in bulk for just a few dollars delivered.

None of the banks or credit unions in my town have free coin counters. The lowest fee is 3% and I'll be darned if I'll pay it! My friends tell me I'm a cheap-skate. They say, "You'd squeeze a Buffalo nickel so tight it would..." well, you know how the statement would end .

I'm lucky to have free coin machines at my Credit union sure makes things a lot easier. I've taken 2-3000 dollars worth of coins at different times. I always make sure I deposit the money and take it out later when I buy some coins.
