Sold for $50 and $75. How much is a can of acetone? Great return on investment.

While it is a remote possibility that the seller did indeed find these in rolls they still have no value if the same "error" can easily and undetectedly be made at home.

Quote: While it is a remote possibility Not likely but maybe he got the roll I rolled up earlier this year. This was on the forum here some time ago so I tried it, sure enough acetone removed the color nearly instantly. I rolled the quarters back up later and took them back to the bank. This seller lives 40 miles away from me..hhmmm But more likely a scammer I would think.

Maybe I should have said exremely remote. Odds that the seller got your coins pennyman, given the proximity, are greater.

Pennyman He says he discovered it in a mint roll... I'm guessing you didn't return them in that? Plus full rolls of the same coins? Of course you didn't contribute.

haha..good. I didn't even read the ad just looked at the pics and read the responses here. But who's to say he didn't buy a mint roll and..
edit: After reading his story again I find it hard to believe, and he says he dosn't collect errors but has had that coin for 5 yrs. Also upon reading his neg feedback Id say faked error for sure. just my opinion

@ rob. I sent the seller this message " Pierre you of all people should know this is man made and not an error. In fact it is a counterfeit per say..There is no way it can ever me a mint error as you have 2 coins from different years. That could never happen. Both coins have been mechanically shaved and soldered or glued together."
Lets see what he replies.

Since it is possible that the coin skipped the mints color process somehow...I dont think you guys should be condemning this guy without knowing for sure..just my uncolored 2 cents

Frazzle These have never come up for sale before and I find it odd that this person has found 3 of these "errors" I could create 100 of these right now and sell them.. This is coming from a person that sells mostly coins and questionable dremel bits. He should know his stuff. You are right though, he could be dumb as a sack.
