Alright everyone, pictures are below, what do you think is up with the streaking type effect on this quarter? I've never seen another one like it and I'd greatly appreciate any and all input. I'm not sure if streaking is the right word but the photos didn't do a super great job of capturing it. This coin is truly beautiful in person.
I'm pretty sure it's called a woody. I don't think it's an "error", they are not that common, but I see them a lot. But get a better opinion from some of the old school guys.
Slur - roller fingers or something like that. If the surface is disturbed that might be a cause but if undisturbed and offcolor streaking then I'm thinking impure alloy.
Improper alloy mix on the lincoln cents make them look like actual wood grain that's where I believe the name comes from-guess this would be the same type of improper mix that caused this,pretty cool looking-those lines aren't raised at all on the reverse are they?
