Hello everyone, I have a few boxes of very rare Sealed 20th Anniversary Silver sets, where all three coins qualify for 1st strike. I really need the money right now, so I decided to sell 2 and keep 2 for myself (to submit to PCGS when I have $750 in fees), but seeing how low the bids are so far I'm wondering if I made a mistake. Since this is not something that has been up on ebay for many months, is there any way of knowing what a reasonable market value would be? What should I expect to get? ***Edited by Forum Dad to remove link. Please review the forum rules before posting again. I'll appreciate any thoughts anyone has on this. Thanks!

Thanks Ken, I figured it was promotion is disguise, that's why we have the rules we do.

I posted on other auctions as well because I figured there might be someone who would actually answer my question. NOBODY HAS, and the only replies I've received are criticisms of the style of auction and the text. I'm open to criticism, but not to someone accusing me of something that's totally unfair. To clarify once more, my question was: IS THERE AN ESTABLISHED MARKET RATE FOR THIS ITEM AND IF SO WHAT IS IT? Whatever, sorry I asked.

Oh, and the assumption that I paid $100 each for them and am just greedy is also ridiculous. I bought these when opened sets were going for close to $500, which was the peak as far as I know. Whatever, no point in wasting time if you people are just going to attack me for no reason.

ahaimsky3, You have fallen for the "First Strike" marketing ploy perpetuated by the TPG's (and possibly devised by them). Here's a good read on the current situation from another thread on the forum: https://goccf.com/t/18902. The 2006 20th Anniversary sets are beautiful and were highly desired. I think we have seen a peak in price and we are now seeing some market leveling. With a mintage of 250K I think we won't see the frenzy again anytime soon. Personally ... I'm waiting for the price to come down even further.

ahaimsky3, it was not so much a mistake to sell as it was to talk about it. You'll find many committed collectors, myself included, who look with disdain at anyone playing in this market. The reason, in my case, is that I know no real collector is interested in acquiring such a set at those prices. They only sold for $100 from the Mint, and are hardly an uncommon item. A reasonable premium is to be expected - heck, I'll happily pay double the true value for a nice-enough coin - but this is an entirely artificial market, the prices being paid have no relationship whatsoever to the intrinsic value of the set, and the people paying those prices are doing so because they don't know any better.
What's happening with these sets are a prime example of what's wrong with numismatics, and many of us aren't willing to take it any more. If you wish to take this as a personal attack, so be it. Ignorance of what's right is a reason, but not an excuse.

Ahaimsky3, Our members do not participate in forum witch hunts. What you posted made our members suspicious of your inten tions. First, you broke the rules to this forum by posting an external link, without making 50 posts. Secondly, it was assumed that you purchased these ASE anniversary sets at the original issue price of $100.00. No where in your origial post did you mention that you purchased these for $500.00. This is a family friendly forum, we are here to help each other and enjoy the hobby. I'm sorry this forum isn't what you were looking for.

I was really going to throw in my 2 CENTS but everyone has already stated exactly what I wanted to say. I occationally check out some of the other forums myself and if I see or hear from someone that the same post is poping up all over the place, I too get suspicious. This forum are so full of professional types of people, their time should not be wasted.
