Just some info:
They have been procsessed in lightroom with some sharpning and more light as I saw it was some shadows in the pictures. I used a led light to light them.

Look like nice AU's to me. The hairlines might hold them back from getting solid grades.

both nice AUs but hairlines may give them details (especially the 1877-S)

What makes them AU? I thought this would be bag marks not sign of circulation - as I can't seen any wear on them when I have it in my hand.

Bag marks and hairlines are two different things.

Both coins may have been "wiped" at one time and the result is the thin "hair lines" you see in the fields...especially on the reverse.

Bag marks are from contact with other coins. The amount, severity and location of the bag marks weigh in to the numeric grade. They have no bearing on whether the coin is "circulated" or "UNC".

Both are still nice coins. At least they look genuine to me!

Anyone else notice the rusty spots in erica of America on the 1877-S?

I saw it and passed it off as some old toning or residue from an old cleaning.
