Hi Everyone,
I am not a member of NGC or ANACS, but I have a proof coin which looks like it has a staple struck into it. I posted it here a while ago. Here's the link.

I contacted some dealers here in northern NJ, but no of them said it's a service they can provide. I don't want to pay ~$40 to register to NGC for a year just to get one coin graded. How can I get this submitted? Are there other reputable grading companies that grade and attribute errors? I have no plans to get any other coins graded so I'd like to avoid buying a membership I won't get anything out of other than getting this coin error attributed. Please help! Thank you..

First an image would be helpful. The image you linked to show a struck through thread and not a staple. If it is the same size as this, then it would not we worth grading. It is common to find these on proof coins. But if it is large and looks like a staple, then it is something that might be worth grading. An image would help first.

After looking at your other thread you might have part of a descaling brush bristle struck into it. Whatever it is I dont think it would bring in enough of a premium to make grading really worth while. IMO

You can submit directly to ANACS, no membership required.

Does ANACS recognize errors though?

Yes. But a staple on a coin is real easy to spot.

If it is struck through a piece of wire, then it would not be worth grading:

The piece that I believe to be a wire of some kind is raised, no incuse. It also appears to follow the inside of the rim and then stops. I'm not exactly sure what it is. I'd just like some closure on it and thought that getting it graded would put that to rest.

Hi Coop. I posted a link to the post I did when I first found it. Here's the link again. It's the Roosevelt dollar coin.

It looks very minor. Possible thread struck through. Not a high dollar error. Sorry
