jbuck, I have been too. I'm actually wondering if maybe the Fed had a stash . . . ?
Anyway, today I had this guy hand me a handful of change for gas and say, very morosely, "there's a dime in there you might want to keep." (He didn't know me--most of my regulars who find fun stuff will just flat-out hand it to me.) He then told me he'd wanted to hold onto it, but needed the spending money more.
I picked through his change and found . . . a 1947 Rosie!!
A postscript: I asked if it would help any if he knew it'd have a good home and told him I collect. You should have seen the smile on his face.

Hmm I find lots of interesting coins in circulation in NY.... 3 that come to mind are; 1) 1907 Indian cent, I found searching a box of pennies I purchased at a local grocery store. 2) 1920 Lincoln Wheat cent (and about $2 in other coins)I found in the reject tray of a CoinStar machine. 3) 1960 Silver Roosevelt dime I found in my change. Oh and I also received several almost uncirculated bicentennial quarters in change at Walmart recently. They are definitely being dumped back into circulation... Edited by Harry213

Got a 2009 Canadian Quarter with the Winter Olympics country skiing event on it. Never seen or heard of these before. Looks like they made a bunch of different types of these. Pretty cool.
I also noticed this didn't have a copper core and it looks like these are mostly steel. Gave me a false hope of silver when I first saw it haha.

From my job today, I opened up a roll of pennies and TWO wheats were inside the roll... a 1955-D and a 1936 plain!

Lonz, I am confident it was not, although even if it was the reverse is tattooed in patina which would kill off a lot of value. I did scoop up a 1947-D wheat back and a 1939 & 1947 nickels in the same roll of nickels I opened up for my drawer at work.

Today: It would appear that the Denver Light Rail system does not accept 2011 Parks Canada Loonies as fare payment, judging by this coin's presence in the returned change bin.  |
