I got a 44D Jefferson, a nice VG but a little dark, in change from McDonald's in Newark Penn Station a while back. I was so excited that I said something to the cashier but she just thought I was nuts.

Hi NJ, to CCF!

And congrats on your find! I love War Nickels . . . all WWII era money, really.

1960-D cent. I found this at work and plucked it because I thought it was a Shield one at first.

Here is the dollar I found that I mentioned earlier. How long does one of these have to circulate to look like this?

Honestly, I don't think anyone knows because I've never seen a non-pocket piece Sacagawea dollar that worn before, nice find.

The only place I know where they are in circulation is at the Air Train to JFK. The ride costs $5 and if you put a $10 bill in the vending machine you get back 5 Sacagaweas or Presidents.

I notice that a lot of machines in D.C. give out change in dollar coins. I guess they are working hard to get people to use the things. People like paper(or plastic) over metal in their wallet/purse.

I work at a used-car dealer these days. People trade in their cars and leave change. Yesterday I found a 1940 and a 1946 Jefferson nickel, both in nice shape.
