Nice! It took me a few seconds to realize the dime was a proof.

I have not been here for some time, but I'm back. During that time I found two interesting coins in circulation (in my change to be more exact)...
Nice finds!

Thanks! Yeah, looks like it's been through some decent circulation, the scanner might not have necessairly caught it, but it is slightly shinier than a normal dime. Found it weird that it went through so much circulation and no one held on to it.

When I was a kid I worked at Walmart as a cart pusher. As there were no cameras on the parking lots at the time and the managers didn't come outside very often, so there were plenty of hijinks to be had. One day I glued a quarter (an ordinary cupro quarter) to the sidewalk right next to the front door with Super Glue and stood back and watch. Several shoppers knelt down to pick up the quarter, realized it was glued to the ground and realized that they had been had and looked around to see if anybody saw them and quickly scurried into the store. One old cheap redneck guy with a cowboy hat and boots pulled out his Old Timer pocketknife and slowly pried it off the ground. About 10 minutes later he was a quarter richer. That's $1.50 an hour if you're keeping up at home. I'm sure he was proud of his "free" quarter.

But hey, a quarter saved is a quarter earned.

My girlfriend strikes again. Or do the customers at the shop she works at?
Anyway, here's Cape Verde 5 escudos 1994. A commemorative coin nonetheless! Very, very similar in size and color to 5 euro cent. Before this coin I didn't even know this island country existed...

I didn't until I had to study for an African geography test recently. I spend at least an hour studying, more than I've ever done in my life, but now I know every African country's location and capital. (Cape Verde: Praia)

I'm really thinking about starting an independent mini collection of coins my girlfriend finds at store. It's already very cosmopolitan; including coins from Poland, Great Britain, Kuwait, USA, Taiwan, Jerusalem, Turkey, Austro-Hungarian empire (!?), Kingdom of Yugoslavia (!?), Macedonia ... While nothing of worth or rare, those coins tell a good story :)

I found a 1949-D wheat in a box of change at my mom's house a couple of nights ago. The coin was in circulation prior to ending up in the box and would have gone back into circulation if I hadn't have rescued it.
