Went through the box of nickels...only found one silver War Nickel ('43-S)...  Found no buffalo's. ...no old Canadians. ....no semi-keys in low grade....NOTHING else at all...  I did make sure I filled my holes in my complete Jefferson nickel folder though...was lacking p&d from last 5 years or so. So except for 2016 p&d...it's now updated and complete. Started one of 2 boxes of cents... 1/4 way through one box...3 Wheats so far (42-D, 44, & 30-D)...  Edited by eaglefoot

I didn't realize this until now, but a lot of my bills are close to being radars. That 1999 star note I put away is number B09110190* which is off by 1 number, and I've actually gotten several other bills from the bank that were off by one or a few numbers.

I finally went back to work today after being away for the past week, and right when I start, I found a 1934 Buffalo nickel! It's the first Buffalo nickel I've found in circulation! |

I volunteered to operate the ticket sales at my local high school. I got three $2 bills (nothing exciting) but also a $20 bill from 1969. Not a bill collector, but it was in great condition at had a nostalgic look. I bought it from the school.

Eaglefoot: Finding a single copper/silver War Nickel in a box makes the whole box a success to me. I recently bought a box of nickels to go through and found maybe 7 pre-1960 Jeffersons and one War Nickel. I was as pleased as punch. One good coin in a box can make or break how successful you consider your hunt. As far as Buffalo nickels go, I found 3 or 4 when I worked at a convenience store for a couple of years. I made some pretty amazing finds right away, but didn't find my first buffalo until much later. There are literally millions of old and collectable coins in circulation but sometimes it takes years to find a good one. Coin roll hunting is a good way to increase your chance of finding something special. |

LOTS of things to report at work tonight. Immediately upon starting, I found a 5 dollar bill that has Where's George stamps on it, and after entering it, my entry is its 2nd hit, and it traveled all the way from Washington state to Maryland, and finally, to my job in NJ! That was my first wild Abe, and in addition to that, a customer spent a 1999 BF-D $20 and a 1935 Wheat penny that's been filed to the size of a dime! I'm guessing with the penny, it's been used by a con artist in the past to trick vending machines, and somehow ended up by me! Overall, a very successful night! |

Nice finds!
Some of you may know that I just got back from a band trip to Disney World. The only interesting finds were a 2003-A five and a one (received from the Morocco showcase at Epcot) with something drawn on it which I prefer not to describe here. I also got a lot of 2016 coins, which I posted in the '2016 Coins in Circulation' thread.

I'm surprised you got a defaced bill from Disney World, I've heard people on the WG forums saying that in their experience, the cashiers will count the bills twice- on the front and on the back, and if there are ANY markings, they'll put them under the register so guests don't get any advertising on money (even though WG is not advertising) I guess to preserve the "magic" that they want guests to experience.

I was surprised as well. It also had quite a bit of writing on it- just abbreviations I didn't recognize.
