It's extremely worn and more than a bit scratched up, but boy was I excited to get a Liberty Head nickel from circulation! This nickel came from the bank for a retail store's cash. It is also now officially the oldest coin I've gotten directly out of circulation, handily beating out a 1916 Panama 2-1/2 cent piece and, for oldest US currency only, my 1918 LWC and SLQ.

I pulled a V nickel out of the drawer in the store I used to work in. I believe it was a 1912. I still have it in storage.

I got a 1893 V nickel from the bank once. It was really dirty, but I'm still glad I have it!

I know the photo isn't the best, but got this at my favorite coffee stop on the way to work...hardly believe that these are still out in circulation. First 90% silver I've ever received in change. What are the odds?...

I worked at a convenience store for over 2 years and I only found about 5 silver quarters the whole time I worked there and I tried to look at every coin that came through the registers when I was on duty. I also found a NIFC 40% silver business strike 1976 bicentennial quarter. That was easily one of my favorite finds.

Here are a couple of snaps of the 1912 nickel I pulled out of the register at my old job.

I have found several silver dimes in the reject bin on Coinstar machines. One day I found an early '60s dime at Walmart and the very next day I went back to the same Walmart and found another silver dime. I even found a 1905-O dime in a Coinstar reject bin. When I worked at the gas station, I found over 35 silver dimes over the years, including about 25 in one month.

Fun. You have to wonder why it kicked THAT normal copper cent... but somebody's loss is the gain to you who can appreciate it!
