@Dagaz, nice find those san marino coins are a bit special from a rarity viewpoint. I got 2 euro commemorative coins as change over the last few days. I'll get images and post them here.

Ok so here we have the two coins as stated but reading back over my last post it may seem like I mentioned the coins were San Marino ones . . . These are commemorative coins but I dont know what the mintage for either is but they would be lower their regular cousins.

Yeah I figured that you probably didn't find San Marino cc's in circulation . Accordong to my catalog, France issued 10 million of those coins and Austria 6 million.

Quote: Saw this on the till of a cash register and asked if it was a dime, was told no but they would take a dime for it to put back in the register....didn't think about it too much, gave the clerk a dime and walked away with this.... I would have made the same trade.

date not clear on pics, its 1937 on that silver Mexican coin, think it goes for somewhere around $8.50 but I am not an expert on grading, pricing, etc.

I have come to the conclusion that there is a higher chance of receiving somethong old and interesting in the U.S or anywhere outside Europe for that matter than there is over here as the Euro is relatively new and because of the concept of it.
You guys still have old coinage circulating

That's true, but there is still cool stuff to find in Europe, particularly coins from the smaller countries in the euro.

People here are carrying all sort of old coins around. My girlfriend for example got a 10 heller (Austra) from 1908 as change a year or two ago. "Eem, sorry, but this hasn't been used for about 100 years." It is now residing in my 'Various' collection. A regular coin with funny story.
