Been a good time for gold plated coins ,, two from circulation the Half dollar an obvious jewelry piece and the Washinton both came from rolls,, the wheatie was in a cent lot of coins in a trade.

Rick...those are nice finds. I've passed up some very pretty gold plated coins because I felt that it degraded the coin. Does the gold plate add any value numismatically? Any references that you can suggest that I read?

Naw Debbie No added value !! In fact in most cases it ruins the coins Numismatic value as an altered coin.

About a week ago I got a series 1985 $5 bill at the movie theatre. Don't know if it's even worth keeping but it's in good condition so I just threw it into my collection.

I'm technically stealing someone else because this didnt happen to me and I'm not exactly sure if it counts as from circulation but... A friend of mine works at a bank and she just told me yesterday that an "old guy" came in and turned in 4 rolls of Buffalo nickels with a few Liberty Head mixed in.

I haven't gotten a look at any of them yet and she doesn't know anything bout coins but it sounds like it'll be fun to go through even if they don't turn out to be anything special. She sounded like she thought a lot of the dates might be worn off the Buffs but she did say one of the Liberty Heads looked "shiny". I'll keep ya posted.

I've been minning copper pennies from rolls for the past month. I wish that I was in Canada roll searching for nickels(the ones that are comprised of mostly nickel). Oopps, Did I just tell your little secret? I tried nickels here for a couple of weeks. I got lots of '04, '05, and '06; I put away a few of these but was mostly looking for pre 1960's. I found only one War Nickel and a few early Jeffersons but nothing of much value. I did get lucky with a roll of pennies the other day because the earliest date was 1981 and 24 of them were wheat cents.

I am confused Now because the wheaties stopped in 1958, now the pre copper were as a whole before 1982 including I think (3 of the 7 varieties not to include the proof of the 1982)

I haven't found squat this week, of course I haven't had time to look since the boss dumped a huge project on me as soon as I walked in the door Monday...
