Up until today I had never found an error coin, other than a filled mint mark. Today, in my pocket I found a 1989 D Lincoln Cent, still fairly shiny. In the field in front of Lincoln there is a very noticable depressed area. The rim isn't effected, and the depressed area seems to go right up to the date, and doesn't effect it either. One of these days I'll get to where I can post pictures, and when I do, I'll share this coin. I know next to nothing about errors, but I really don't think this was caused by somebody hammering on it.

Found my first two South Dakota Statehood Quarters in my pocket today. Denver mint, and looks like they just came from the bank -- which they probably did. I really like the Mount Rushmore design, but don't especially care for the bird flying overhead.

Hello all. it has been a while since I last posted but could not resist posting this one. Within the last week I have gotten 11 silver dimes and out of the 11 4 were Mercurys. As well as about $4.00 worth of jeffersons ranging from 39-64. The 64's are very very good condition. Seems someone has raided a small horde or spending Granpas collection. Mike

I've been shipped to a different branch of the bank, and this office maybe gets a quarter of the coin that my old office did. So needless to say, the finds had pretty much dried up. I did find a handful of wheat cents the other day, nothing special in the dates. Rachel

here is another weird coin found in circulation here in NC, seems to be more and more of these foreign coins showing up in change around here when we used to get close to none

That is strange to see that coin on a different continent that the one it originated on. What is even more strange is the date.

I agree. If you were going to run across a coin from Portugal you would expect it to be a recently-minted Euro.

wonder how it was used in change here in NC ? I knew as soon as it was handed to me that something wasn't right with it but didn't examine the coin in the store, I waited until I got out in the truck before I pulled it out to see what was so different with this coin and that is what I found. I found another weird one (not from the same country) not long ago from (if I am not mistaken) the same store

I can understand how foreign coins sometime show up in American pockets.
I recently contributed to somebody's collection I'm sure, but in a reverse manner as I put some "foreign" coins into circulation by accident.
Twice during our trip to Europe this past spring, I paid for things at souvenir shops (one in The Azores, and the other in Ireland), and then shortly after I realized that part of the payment had been with U.S. coins I had in my pocket. I evidentally thought they were Euros. Anyway, they had disappeared from my pocket, so I'm sure I used them as payment.
Hopefully, whoever ended up with them was a coin collector.

Big deal, right?
Here's the two reasons I personally consider it a good find.
First, it's only the third one I have ever found in circulation.
Secondly, this was the only one of the three which was in good enough shape that I wanted to keep it in my collection.

Yes, a big deal, Gary. I still haven't seen a 2006-D dime here in Michigan and want one for my collection. I posted a wanted-to-buy last night for one, and Whitesid came up with one for me. So where have all the 2006-D dimes gone? Is it a low mintage? Jan

If you are using IE7 the spell checker doesn't work in it, I had to switch to Firefox and in it there is no need for spell checker in the forum because it checks it automatically anyhow
