I've recently came across a coin from 1974 that seems to have a skinnier face then any other penny I could find online or in my house" is this a mint error ? Or is it made purposely ?

I moved your thread to the US Modern Coin Variety section. Could be an over-polished die or Struck Through Grease. Can we see a closeup of the coin and area in question?

What year coin are you comparing it to? Lincoln copper cents 1968 and before have larger portraits than 1969 and after.

I was comparing it to another 1974 penny d and found that this penny is also thinner and the face is skinnier and seems of a different president.

Could be from overpolishing the die to get ride of a clash...could be some die grease. Can't tell from the pics.

Hard to tell what you have from images provided. Keep in mind this year had the large and small dates for all three mints. But they were about even on all the cents struck that year, so no real premium over the small or large dates. One of the 1974-D dies was heavily over polished that removed some of the bust designs. But I guess I never compared the bust images of both to see if they are different or not?
