Look at the embossed stamping in this label .. The newer ICCS labels will be not show any raised stamping in the label.. Very often the older labels were graded a touch harsher than the newer ones of today..So collectors grab up the older graded coins when they can find them..then cut them out and send them in as a new one to be graded. In the higher grades ,..it's a quick way to double your valuation.. . .

Ther's actually three generations of ICCS flips. The newest has three initials (all currently starting with 'X') and started around November 2011. The middle aged cert has two initials, does not have the embossed seal. The first generation cert has the embossed seal, but an easier and quicker way to see the difference is look at the two printed lines at the lower portion of the ICCS cert. The oldest version (with embossed seal) will have a very short printed second line, while the more recent ones (and the newest three initial ones) will have two full length printed lines. It's very easy to spot.

The oldest version I am aware of is an embossed flip which is 2 3/4 X 2 3/4 rather than a 2 1/2 X 2 1/2. It has 5 lines for pertinent information.

Everest.....you are correct.
The very FIRST ICCS flip was a larger one.
But there was only one series of these and the initials are 'AJ' (produced in the very first year of business).
After this series, they went to the smaller certs.

Does anyone have a "Chinese" ICCS flip? just so we would be able to recognize one? Maybe Nickelsguy has one?

Doubleeagle: Thank you for your response.I didn't realize that the large holders were only used during the first year. I checked my other large holders and the initials were CD and KK. This leads me to believe that several prefixes were used with the large flips.

Everest...that's odd because I asked Scott (at ICCS) a few weeks ago about the original 'larger' certs and he said there was only one series - the 'AJ' one that I mentioned above.
I would greatly appreciate it if you could post a picture of the 'cd' and 'kk' certs.

Doubleeagle: Here is a KK prefix. The CD prefixes are in my SDB as they have not been broken out.

Thanks Everest, I appreciate the pics.
I'm actually keeping track of all 676 ICCS 2-letter combinations and although I had no record of 'KK' (up till now) my research does show 'CD' to be of the old version, but not the old-large version, so I'll be interested in any future update.

Wait, why is KK such a special version?

KK is not a 'special' version, but rather, alongwith 'AJ' they are part of the very first ICCS certs (or flips) that were produced.
These very early ICCS certs are sought after because they are most often very conservatively graded.

Everest....no hurry, but do find out about the 'CD' ICCS cert. I'm very interested if you have one that's the old large one because I have one that is the old small one. Could yours perhaps be 'CM" because that's the only one that starts with 'C' that I haven't found yet?
