Hi All, I just got a call from a private seller whom I know who wants to sell a small varied coin collection that belonged to her mother. I am meeting with her in a hour and half. To be fair I need help with what to offer for Morgan and Peace dollars non key dates. Thanks John

13-14 dollars each seems reasonable, and likely more than a shop would offer.

Maybe 15-16 for the nicer ones.

I would agree with Matt.. base silver content in them is just over $12 so $14-17 (depending on grade) sounds good. Anything under what ebay sells them for ($20-25) is a good deal to me. Good luck!

$15 each seems fair to me. Retail is $20.

Well rushed over to the seller's office to sort through the stash she said she had. She had about 15 years (all 70's and 80's) mint proof sets (non silver), Small baggies of Susan B Anthony dollars, 3 Eisenhower dollars (non silver), Jefferson nickels, Roosevelt dimes (non silver) and alot of loose wheat pennies with no real value. She did have a few Dansco books for dimes, quarters nickels. Most were mostly empty. As far as silver dollars she had 2 Morgan's and 1 Peace dollar. The one Morgan I told her to get graded. Its was a 1878S, the other looked counterfeit but I didn't want to get into that with her and the Peace dollar was a 1926 so the value was at best $ 15.00 dollars in its condition. She had 3 - 1964 JFK's, 7 - 40%er's and 1 Walking Liberty half dollar. So at least I got the curiosity out of my head. Thanks all for your help above. John

Grandmas collection today is a lot different from what it was 30 or 40 years ago. Most of the time today I see clad Kennedy Halfs, a few SBA' s, maybe an Ike or two and a couple of 76 $2 bills. Back in the old days it was silver dollars, Indians, a few Buffalos, the standard 64 Kennedys, some odd paper and an occasional gold coin. The scary thing today is the heirs think they have a gold mine!
