Should I attempt to cross my 1928 Peace dollar over to PCGS or should I leave it in the old Anacs holder?

I'd leave it in the old holder but need to ask your reason for crossover? If you want registry points then you have to cross it. If you want re-sale value then consider your grading fees and possibility of downgrade/DNC. If you just like PCGS then it's your money. :)
I like it as a 63 in the old ANACS holder.

I was just wondering if the experts think it would cross over at the same grade? ic PCGS coins going for considerably more in the same grade. Planning on keeping it for a long term investment.

I see, well you'd gain about $200-$250 in resale value in PCGS plastic, and it will cost you at least $50 just to try, so I don't see it as worthwhile (to me). The coin looks like it would cross but I like old ANACS holders and without big upside I wouldn't do it.

Without a doubt, with this particular specimen, the COIN speaks for itself. In this older ANACS holder, there is no reason to plasticize in another TPG. Nice one!

Some people actually collect those holders and pay a premium for them so I think you should keep it like this.

That is one nice looking coin, regardless of what holder it is in.

I think PCGS is running a crossover special for $10 if it doesn't cross, and regular fees if it does But I also like the older ANACS holders.

Whoa, that is a real beauty! Coins like this one really stand out in the older and much smaller ANACS slabs. There isn't as much plastic for the coin to get lost in.

CRACK THAT DOLLAR OUT AND RESUBMIT! Not only do I think is will be better off in a pcgs holder, I think you may even get a higher grade. Has + eye appeal from the pics and looks like it could grade 64 65. Old holders are old holders, and often undergraded. In fact, I cracked out a 1909-s VDB in the same holder. Was graded AU-50. Sent into NGC and came back a 58.
ultimately its your decision, and shouldn't make it overnight. Esp. if you plan to keep it long term. Cant put it back in once cracked out, so keep it in place until you know for sure.

It looks much better than a MS-63. I would cross it. If you are looking at this coin as a long term investment, PCGS coins do sell for more than ANACS coins.

There's no way I would crack it! Those old ANACS slabs are by far my favorite of any and all slabs and I'd easily pay a premium for that alone over one in a PCGS slab. I actively search them out and would absolutely pay more for a small white ms-63 over a brand new PCGS 63. I wouldn't touch it.
Also I find those old white slabs to be quite accurate, back when ANACS was in their prime...
Though I still prefer ANACS over the other two.... The price difference is utterly rediculious and not based in anything concrete. It's "us" that mKes that premium possible... Not the coins in the holders.
