Wow. There is so much to choose from between the Landon and Victoria North collection. I hope I can pick up a couple of items. Not much for under $1,000. If you are a Vicky cent collector, it will be an expensive auction.

Well at least my source told me the truth ! Incredible stuff! Just maybe too much stuff all at once ? Boy do I dislike Toronto in February. At least I will be indoors.

Trying to figure out if I should just bite the bullet and get a plane ticket, or make the 10 hour drive... How are the roads up there in the winter?

jdmern - I see you are from the US. Roads to and around Toronto are fine. Just avoid heavy snow storms. During the winter the city is very comfortable. Lots of good restaurants and safe to walk around. It can get cold but all the major downtown hotels are connected to heated underground walkways. Should be a good auction!

Looks interesting, though most of it is well out of budget range. I am not sure if I missed some lots, but it would have been nice to see some lots of MS coins grouped together by date rather than 14 x Same year MS-62/63. I would gladly bid on a package of years, but 14 of the same coin is not much use. I wonder where all the mid grade stuff is.

As far as I can see, the Landon Collection auction is no reserve...

I noticed that too @purelywasted; lots geared towards dealers I guess? Something for everybody (those with the money anyway). The silver is a lot more impressive than I was expecting. I saw a US cents lot spanning into the 1980s which I wasn't expecting either, I guess his son/grandson must have continued collecting?

I took a quick look, but some of the large cents are outstanding.....I'm glad I don't collect them anymore, therefore not to be tempted,

Ya know-- being an old advertising guy I love the hype with all of this and yes, Moore must be smiling and it makes me feel good knowing that the spin on this can only be a great thing for the hobby. Ah what a treasure hunt and would luv to be in TO but alas me hearties will have to be content to see how it unfolds in comfort of my den, my dog, the fireplace and hope my wife doesn't ask if I am "bidding on those stupid coins of yours again" which she advises me will be sold quicker than you can kiss a duck when I am gone

Here's a question... I have not been to an auction in Canada before, I don't really understand how your provincial tax or GST or whatever works... Is that applied based off of the province where the sale takes place or where the buyer is from? I know when purchasing from the U.S. and having it shipped, I don't have to deal with that...
