I have mint set from 1965 and up and would like to break them apart to form sets. what would be the better way to go? Danco albums, air-tite capsule (round or square) or 2x2 cardboard holders.
I also have a proof set. 1965 and up. silver set 1999 and up.
What is the best way to go?

Thanks for any help

What sort of sets are you talking about?
Face sets like cents, nickels, dimes, etc.
Or date sets.

Since I suspect you mean "face sets" how do want to show them?
Albums are nice since you can also see the reverses of all the dates.
Digging coins in Air-tites or 2x2's from a storage box wears thin quickly; you would need some appropriate album to store them in.
Dansco albums take care of that.

Just remember that most of the coins you have will have less value than the cost of albums you store them in.

I was thinking of going with danco albums for mint sets and air-tite albums for proof

I've found that Dansco (or similar) albums offer the best viewing of my collection as well as a quick method to inventory and track my coins.

As far as the expense goes, try to find used albums at your LCS. These are an inexpensive way to go and often times are cheaper than 2x2's or flips. I use the albums including Proof Only issues. For example, I picked up a Roosevelt with Proof that has 210 holes in it for $8. That's approximately .04 per coin for storage and presentation. (The Lincoln Album with Proofs has 324 holes. At $20, this is about .06 each; at $30, it's still cheaper than 2x2's at about .09 each.

Similar savings can be found with other albums (lightly used or even retail).

Fortunately, my LCS owner who is very fair and knowledgeable and who has a large selection of used Dansco and other albums at reasonable prices. If I see an album in very good/like new condition, even if I don't currently collect the series, I'll pick it up. As everyone knows, a "collection" is never truly done.

And remember there are many other types of Albums available. I prefer putting coins in Albums. Yes they are expensive but great for seeing your coins and both sides of them. I use Whitman although I'm a bit irritated with the Whitman Company now that they have all their Albums made in China.
I've recently found a place that is cheaper than most for Albums so I recently ordered a few more. IF you keep them in something like a Zip Lock bag, the coins should last a long, long time
