I have this coin for some time. can anyone explain what happened or how this came about? looks like a dogs breakfast. would ICCS grade it? and if so, as what? would any of you venture to place a value on it? might be a tough one. sorry about the many pictures. I did that to show all the different impressions, both sides! look at the denticles..

It appears to be double struck in collar with second strike being slightly rotated.

Wow! Beautiful. The pics are a bit dark but double struck! I love it! I'm sure there's a whole lot more going on, but I'm no expert!

Isn't this called " Mechanical Doubling" or " Machine Doubling"? I see tripling along front of profile. Pretty cool. Edit: http://www.doubleddie.com/144822.html seems to be a nice description of this kind of doubling, with lots of US examples. I'm sure there are other references. Not saying I know for sure that's what it is for this particular coin since I don't know anything about large cents.

Appears to be double struck, in collar. ICCS does not grade errors, in fact, they tend to body bag them.

The shadow effect around the face is extra metal in relief-----called "Die Filling" which is caused by double striking ---- a fantastic example: Source--Coins and Canada-errors and varieties.
