I am thinking that this is NOT 1977D-1MM-001. Although the D is tilted at the right angle, it is positioned about
1/8 MM too far to the left. So I don't know what to think. I believe that bit of difference is important in trying to identify these...Everything else fits ok with an overlay.

Interesting. The MM is too big, it's too far to the right as well as the left. Could it just be a question of die wear?

If it were die wear which expanded the mint mark, then perhaps it could be the ID I was thinking it isn't. The area along the top is not exactly what it should be either.

I'm just throwing ideas out. The exact duplication of the MM rotation seems a little too cute, you know? It's worth talking about.

My problem is that I don't know what to say about it. Perhaps if it is the exact rotation - which it seems from an overlay - and your idea of Die Deterioration - it could be a later stage die than 1977D-1MM-001 - which is already identified as LDS.

The location looks correct. If you could get a better image that is clear it would help The devices seem wider that they should be which means it may have been polished and mushed the tops of the devices. Or the image make it appear like it is underwater? So a clearer image might reveal more?

Here is another image - not sure it will be very helpful, though. Thanks for looking.
