Pictures of this 22.93 gram (very light weight) piece may have been shown before, but just in case, here goes - Note that it seems to be either an 1811-TH or an 1821-TH. There is no such combination in Krause. Cheers, Bill

Ben - note the die chip by the nose as a diagnostic ... the Riddell plate has cancellation marks.

BillSnyder You certainly have an example of the Riddelll # 76 there. Riddell's coin weighed 25.4 grams and was in better shape but he melted his.
Yours is the ONLY known example of the Riddell # 76 to come to light so far. Great find.
The date as you suspected is 1821 the mint was Mo.
So as of now - there are only 9 Riddell portrait coins that have not been located.
If it is ever for sale let me know.

Incredible portrait due to its length. Should bring me more than a regal 1821 from this mint/assayer in this condition? LOL
Remember ... folks ... its a win/win situation for dealers and collectors w/ Type 1's and sometimes even with foreign error collectors who get lucky ... LOL.

BillSnyder I have the coin in hand - thank you very much - it is the missing Riddell variety - it was one of several packages that the PO had set aside for me on a shelf that I did not get for some time. The oldest was posted 11/6.

I apparently saved the pic of the first coin in early 2013 - presumably from ebay... shown next to Bill's coin for comparison:

Yes that earlier has a more interesting alloy - but both are CLASSICS!
