France has released Benjamin Franklin commemorative coins.

I thought you US friends would like to know.

The coins are dated 2006, sorry if this was previously posted, I couldn't find anything about it

The French commems look better than the ones the US mint spit out.

I had a whole lot to say about this commem but then thought it wasn't the time nor place to say how I feel about the french so I will just say I think it looks funny with their flag next to the American flag

I don't care for the tic-tac-toe design on the obverse. I still prefer the US mint Franklin commemoratives.

This year the Monnaie de Paris issued another piece with a "French-American" theme: the Marquis de La Fayette commem. This is the silver "quarter"; there is also a €10 gold coin. Note the two flags and the bilingual inscription ...

French-Benjamin-Franklin-Comm. French-Benjamin-Franklin-Comm.

Of course such coins will not be interesting for those who despise anything French or European. Others may find them appealing. Like with US precious metal commems, the face value of these does not have much to do with the actual price ...
