Hello. Due to budget constraints I am torn between these two lovely coins; I can only get one  Septimius Severus denarius  Weight, 3.94 grams Diameter 17.8mm Struck Circa 202 - 210 C.E. Vespasian denarius  Weight 18.1mm Diameter 3.30 Struck Circa. 71 C.E. Ironically both of these Emperors came out on top against their rivals in the years of 4 and 5 emperors If it were your choice what would you get ? Thanks as always. Edited by Augustus Maximus

I would go with Severus due to that really awesome reverse. That is a very nice Vespasian though...

the Septimius Severus is a very nice coin especially with that reverse type, but the Vespasian is the better coin. I would go for the Vespasian.

Between the two, the Vespasian denarius is the scarcer. This is what I would go with. It is a bit too bright for my taste, but has a very nice portrait.

Would go with the Septimus Severus, same argument as 'Dutchgulden' - the sacrificial implements reverse can be found from a few emperors.

That reverse on the back of that severus is amazing. I'd go with that.

well, sorry AM, you're going to have to get them both.
seriously, it's a toss up and there isn't a right one or wrong one here. i'd do the vespassian, but that's because I don't have one of him. I also kind of like the surfaces a tad better. keep us posted!

I'd prefer the Vespasian. Those are neat priestly implements on the reverse.
