If it were later the coin would have be of a more degraded bust and stylistically inferior, even for well struck high grade examples.

Rudrasena II was to the best of my knowledge the father of Bhartrdaman.

Have to disagree with you on the timing, all references I have seen have Rudrasena II (~255-277) as father of Bhartrdaman.
The 380-385 time-frame fir more with Rudrasena III or IV. May I ask what reference you use?
