I was given a 2000D Sacagawea dollar coin that has a capital D imprinted on her cheek. The D is large enough that her cheek fits inside the D. Does anyone know anything about this coin?
Thanks,

Pictures tell a thousand words... :)

I think this could well be a bag or circulation mark.
Rest in Peace

It's most likely a counterstamp. People stamp things onto coins. With only a D...it could have been done by just about anyone with a stamp and a hammer.

I can't imagine that it is collectable since it could be easily replicated. That being said, I'd keep it just to add to my collection of oddities.
Rest in Peace

Sounds too large to be a dropped letter so that only leave a privately done counterstamp. Someone had a new set of metal punches he wanted to try out.
