Sobs.... these arrived with some others I have yet to check out. That's another 'dealer' off my Christmas card list. 3 of them :- Obverse, Reverse, first one is 15.41 grams, 22.5mm dia. second one is 14.79 grams, 22.5mm dia. third one is 14.77 grams, 23mm dia. and finally, an attempted closer pic of the bubbles after I flicked a piece of the 'coin' off :- You will never soar like an eagle if you hang around with turkeys.....

Can't name the seller yet as it could have legal complications. They came from the UK from quite a large seller. I am pretty disgusted to say the least.

Quote: They came from the UK from quite a large seller. Then you should have quite good legal protection. Hope the seller owns up to the responsibilities and doesn't try to wear you down.

And I like yours MetDet, we are like two sides of the same coin :)
Medieval is right, at least they are in this country. If the legal angle doesn't work, you can always go round with a big stick (joking) :)

Shame on him, hope you can return them without any problems.

The obv. design of the top two--at least--look identical, centered differently. That would probably indicate modern copies vs. contemporary imitations. Despite the attempt at old-looking surfaces--the details are way off. Poor definition for struck Athens tets--ie the lumpy look of cast fakes.

The dealer paid me a visit, in person. He gave me a full refund, an apology, a few free coins and purchased a genuine 'owl' from me! Alls well that ends well as they say. Oh, and just in case anyone was wondering, I purchased the fakes 'blind'.

Perhaps you can give us his name now... He has proved to be a honest seller.
